![]() ![]() ![]() Fungondo is a combination of Hard and New Game+. Hard Mode makes enemies harder, while New Game+ has the enemy AI behavior from the end of the game from the start. The game has four difficulty levels: Story, Hard Mode, New Game+ and Fungondo. Up to four players can play the game locally and online (the latter can be done by joining another player's game or creating a private game). Special techniques can be purchased in a similar fashion to the original game by visiting different dojos, but each character needs to have a specific level in order to purchase a technique (this is similar to Shodai Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun, where Kunio and Riki learned new techniques by leveling up).Ī fight in one of the shopping districts. Predator and Guardian Heroes, with characters having unique fighting styles and moves that can be used in a variety of combos. Unlike the original game, which had similar gameplay to Double Dragon (though much more accessible and outlandish), this game has more in common with stylish beat 'em ups such as Streets of Rage 2, Alien Vs. The player can also taunt by doing a fist bump, which can be reciprocated by another player or humorously ignored. A button can be used to use any item on the player's inventory without having to access the items on the menu. The player can now grab enemies (both from the front and from behind, like in Shodai Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun) and has a button to use special moves. The game's control scheme is changed from the original, players still have separate buttons to punch and kick but now have a dedicated button to jump and block. They join the Flock to help them clear their name. They eventually wind up meeting Alex and Ryan, who find the situation familiar. The Flock's leader also went missing at the same time as the kidnapping. A new kidnapping is reported in River City, and a group of River City High students known as the Flock is framed for it. It's been about 20 years since Alex and Ryan thwarted Simon's kidnapping of Cindy and his attempt to take control of River City with a gang of evil bosses. ![]() There is also an "arena" mode where the player can fight single battles with any chosen characters.Merv accusing The Flock of the kidnapping. The clock plays a factor: some boss encounters only happen at a specific time (day or night), and most shops are closed at night. In the "story" mode the player must find and defeat a number of bosses throughout the city. New fighting moves can be bought in specific shops as well. The items can increase stamina (the health meter), willpower (a backup source of health), maximum length of the "special" meter, and/or a variety of stats such as "attack" or "throw" that determine the character's combat skills. Money can be spent in shops on items such as food or books. Experience increases the character's level, which determines his maximum stats. The player can also pick up weapons such as baseball bats, rocks, crates or trashcans, either to fight with, or to throw at the enemies.ĭefeating the gang members gives the player experience and money. It's possible to grapple foes, as well as to pick up downed opponents and toss them. Some moves consume the "special" bar that regenerates on its own over time. Running out of stamina (the health meter) causes the player to lose half of his money and respawn at the last visited hideout.Įach character has a variety of different moves. Some places are safe "hideouts" where the player can switch to a different character or save the game. The gangs all differ in appearance and fighting tactics. The player controls one of the playable characters (members of the Flock, or others who can be unlocked throughout the game), freely exploring River City, and fighting against the numerous gang members encountered on the way. The game is a beat 'em up with a lot of similarities to the original River City Ransom. It's up to the player to find out what truly is going on in River City and stop the culprit once and for all. After a mysterious kidnapping jolts the town, the gang of high-schoolers known as "The Flock" is framed for the abduction, but Alex and Ryan figure this has Slick's handiwork all over it. Alex and Ryan, retired from their fighting days, are now running an auto repair shop, while the infamous Slick rots in jail. The plot takes place 20 years after the original River City Ransom.
